CE/MCE EPD – calving ease and maternal calving ease EPD are
now on a 10 point scale (0-10). Members are strongly
encouraged to look at the percentile ranks associated with the
EPD to get a feel for where sires can be used most
appropriately. EF EPD – we have had some calls regarding
EPD with “EF” accuracy values. EF EPD are based strictly on
the breed average EPD for the birth year of the parents and
contain no inherent pedigree or performance information from
the individual. For example a Calf with a sire born in 2005
and a dam born in 2003, with no other information would
receive EF EPD that are the average of the Simmental cattle in
the evaluation that were born in 2005 and 2003 respectively. |

REGISTRY INFORMATION |
THE Billing
(1st installment):
A reminder to Total Herd Enrollment (THE)
participants the first installment for 2010 will be billed to
your CSA account April 1st. Payment is due upon receipt of
invoice. For members with a credit card on file at the CSA
office, fees will automatically be billed to your credit card.
The 2nd installment will be invoiced on October 1st. Please
note that in the event an animal is shipped or sold between
installment billings, the second installment is still due and
payable by the member who enrolled the cow.
Credit Card Authorization:
Please contact the CSA
office if the particulars pertaining to your credit card have
changed (e.g. card number, expiry date, etc.). This will allow
your registration and transfer papers to be printed and mailed
without being delayed.
Rush DNA
Tests
DNA tests can be rushed for a charge of $30 (plus DNA test
fee). If you require the Lab to “rush” a hair sample, please
order the DNA application from the CSA office beforehand. We
will then put a signature line on the application form where
you will sign/authorize the Rush. ** Please do not write any
rush instructions on the application form without the CSA’s
knowledge - as it delays processing your DNA samples.
Do your Herd Sires have DNA?
Now’s the time to make
sure all your natural service sires have been DNA tested. If
you have purchased any bulls recently, it is your
responsibility to ensure they have DNA on file in accordance
to CSA bylaws.
Are you
collecting semen on a bull?
AI sires must be
parentage verified in order to register their progeny. If you
are entering a bull into an AI facility, drawing semen
on-farm, or even considering drawing semen on a bull in the
future, please make sure your bull is or can be parentage
verified.
Online
Instructions – to Hold, Transfer or Print papers
It is now possible to
register an animal online and select a Hold Paper option (on
the Register Screen).
The animal will be assigned a
registration number and the breeder will be billed – but the
paper will not print.
Breeders can then access the list of
“held papers” from their Online main web page under:
My Herd
My Held Papers Transfer or Print
From this list you can do one of 2
things: 1)
Request a paper be printed
- This will trigger a paper to print at a
zero charge in the CSA print Run and the animal will disappear
from the list.
Or, 2) Transfer the animal
- If they do not know the Buyer’s CSA
number for transfer they can fill in a form on the transfer
screen and have the office staff provide them with the correct
information. These request emails will come in via the office
email account. |

Australia will

September 2010. I would like to take this
opportunity to invite you, your partner, friends and
industry colleagues to attend the 2010 Simmental
World Congress.
Many international and
Australian delegates are expected to attend this
important event to increase their knowledge of
Simmental cattle and the Australian beef cattle
industry. The Congress and the pre and post Congress
tours will include a range of activities to inform
and entertain delegates. It will also cover
topics on innovations in cattle genetics, stud and
commercial herd breeding, product quality,
management technology and marketing.
The
Congress will be held in conjunction with the
Simmental Feature Breed Judging at Royal Melbourne
Show. A special Congress feature will be an
International Young People’s Program.
We
invite you to enjoy the Welcome Reception,
interactive networking sessions, a Congress dinner,
a themed Australian farewell dinner, partners
program during the Congress and other tour events.
In addition, the overall Congress program will
provide a memorable rural Australian experience and
