CSA THANKS YOU FOR YOUR OPINION
The CSA board of directors held a conference call July 13th as a follow up to the mail in consensus ballot regarding the proposed Provincial promotion levy.

The response from the membership was very good with 23% of the total membership replying.

Provincial Levy Proposal Ballot results
300 Opinion Ballots were sent back to the office out of 1315 mailed to the membership
202 voted “no” (67%)
98 voted “yes” (33%)

After considering these numbers and after further discussion, the CSA board has decided it will not collect a mandatory provincial membership fee on behalf of the provincial associations.

Thank you to all the CSA members who replied and shared their opinions.

BREED IMPROVEMENT INFORMATION

Genetic Evaluation:  The CSA genetic evaluation is nearly complete. The genetic evaluation includes growth, calving ease, scrotal and carcass evaluations. New EPD results will be posted in the near future. Watch www.simmental.com for details.

Progeny Test Sires:  The CSA is continually on the lookout for progeny test sires. Cost to participate in the program is $1500 and 50 straws of Canadian qualified semen. The progeny test program provides a detailed carcass proof on your sire, and data will be used in the Garth Sweet Foundation Research Project.

Test Herds:  The CSA is continually seeking herds that would like to participate in the progeny testing program. Herds must be willing to AI and be able to follow calves through to harvest.  For details or if you know of potential interested herds, please contact the CSA.

REGISTRY INFORMATION
Online/THE Instructions – to Hold, Transfer or Print papers:
If you participate in the Total Herd Enrolment program, it is possible to register an animal Online and select the “Hold Paper” option. (see the Register Screen; prior to clicking on the Register button).

The selected animal will be assigned a registration number and the breeder will be billed – but the paper will not print.

Breeders can then access the list of “held papers” from their Online main web page under:

My Herd
My Held Papers Transfer or Print

From this list you can do one of 2 things:

1) Request a paper be printed when it is required - This will trigger a paper to print at a zero charge in the CSA print Run and the animal will disappear from the list.

Or

 2) Transfer the animal to a Buyer - If they do not know the Buyer’s CSA number for transfer, they can fill in an Online Form on the transfer screen and have the CSA office staff provide them with the correct information. These email requests come in via the office email account and are processed usually within the same day. Then, the Online user simply enters the CSA # and Sale Date for the animal and submits the request for processing.
