It is with heavy
heart that I write
this note to inform
you of Ms. Alana
Lunn’s decision to
resign from CSA to
seek other business
opportunities. Alana
has been a
tremendous
ambassador for the
Simmental breed and
a valuable team
player within the
livestock and
agriculture
industry. Alana’s
personal decision
opens a whole new
chapter in her life
with the purchase of
a franchise
operation called
Glamour Secrets -
http://www.glamoursecrets.com/.
Her new 1200 square
foot retail
operation in NW
Calgary opens this
May.
For those of us who
know Alana well, we
are disappointed to
see her leave, even
though she goes with
our admiration and
respect for her
leadership and
contribution to the
CSA world and the
beef industry. Alana
has been with the
CSA for almost five
years and through
that period the
Simmental breed has
been incredibly
strengthened. One of
the key success
indicators has been
the fact Simmental
bull sales for the
past two years have
been topping the
market in the
seedstock industry
and early signs in
2007 appear to
suggest the breed is
going to have
another banner year.
Her commitment and
dedication has been
of superior support
to a breed already
well established in
the marketplace and,
through her efforts,
she dramatically and
positively impacted
the Simmental brand.
Alana brought a
unique flair of
marketing skills,
livestock knowledge
and interpersonal
skills that was an
incredible mix of
talent which
resonated well with
her peers and
industry. Over her
time with Simmental
the breed has
experienced
fantastic growth in
office transactions
(registrations,
transfers,
performance data,
etc) plus the CSA
hosted the World
Simmental Congress
in 2006, the second
time in 30 years; a
project that was
three years in the
planning. This event
hosted
representatives from
over 21 countries
and well over 500
guests and delegates
mingled throughout
the final event.
We are all going to
miss Alana over the
days and weeks ahead
for not only her
smile, energy and
knowledge of our
industry and above
all else her “can
do” attitude. We
know she will be
fabulously
successful in her
new entrepreneurship
venture and we wish
her every success.
Her last day will be
March 31st.
While it will be a
challenge to replace
Alana, we have
started that
process. If you
know of anyone who
may be qualified and
who would continue
to build on the
great work Alana has
done, please
encourage them to
apply. An overview
of the position is
now posted on our
website at:

Thank-you.
