Over the past 30 years, the Simmental breed has grown in popularity, fast becoming one of the most influential cattle breeds in Canada. The Simmental animal "Leads the Way" in growth and feedlot performance by fulfilling the feedlot requirements of fast, efficient weight gains.

Simmental cross extremely well with British and continental breeds of cattle. Simmental cross steers, for example, are usually the first to reach slaughter weight.  This advantage gives the feedlot owner more flexibility when it comes to marketing the cattle as finished beef. As a result of the feedlot owner's fast, efficient weight gaining Simmental animals, the carcasses of this particular breed of animal are of top quality, have a high meat yield (high muscle content), and prominently fit the top grade standards, not only do packing plants get the tender well-muscled carcasses they want, but feedlot operators succeed in reaping the Simmental breed benefits financially.

Simmental cows, too, "Lead the Way" in Canada and around the world. The Simmental female is recognized as one of the best mother cows and best replacement females in the commercial cattle industry. The udders of the Simmental cow are well formed, allowing easy access for newborn calves to a nourishing supply of milk. Milk quality and abundance, which are essential in producing heavy calves, are some of the well-known superior traits intrinsic to the Simmental breed.
