Hello Simmental Buddies!
As I write this newsletter the summer is about
to start and I know it will be a busy time for Island Simmental breeders.
Your new executive is:

The PEI Farm Equipment Island Futurity show is
August 30th at approximately 4 pm. This show will be part of Egmont Bay
Agricultural Exposition and will have a panel of 3 judges. Confirmed
judges are Verna Docherty and Tim Dixon. The open Simmental show at Egmont
will begin at 9 am.
Old Home Week Simmental Show will be on Saturday
August 17th at 9 am with judge Ken Lewis. Programs should have arrived in
the mail but if you have not received one contact the Old Home Week office
at 629-6623.
PEI will be hosting the Maritime Simmental
Association Annual Meeting on Friday August 17th , at 1 pm at the Civic
Centre. The Maritime Classic Show will be on Friday 17th at 7 pm and will
have 3 classes - heifers, bulls and yearlings.
The Maritime Classic Simmental Sale is scheduled
for September 22nd at Nappan with a tentative start time of 1 pm. For more
information on this event call Bennett at 368-2600.
The PEI Association is once again holding a PEI
Select Simmental Sale on November 2, at Craswells Sale Barn in South
Rustico. Sale time 12:30 pm. Please note that this is a change from the
original date of October 26.
If you have animals to consign please contact
Mel Crane at 836-4119 or Shelley at 583-2015 ASAP. The entry deadline is
August 18, 2002. The sale catalogues will be on the web site so the sooner
you forward the information to Mel the quicker it will appear on the site.
www.peisimmental.com Good quality picture are welcome. The sale commission
will be the same as in past years. Brian Craswell will be the auctioneer
with Andrew and Robert Godfrey handling the pedigree duties.
The web site looks great and we welcome pictures
to profile your best animals. Thank you to Mel for all his hard work on
the web page which is now linked to the CSA.
YCS Notes: If anyone needs information on YCS
events contact Andrew Godfrey at 566-3613.
The show at Dundas is shaping up and will be on
August 24th at approximately 2 pm. The 4H preceeds this at 12:30 pm. The
judge for the show is Stewart Mutch. For more information call Shelley
583-2015 or Calvin 961-3129.
On a personal note thank you to Jane MacLaurin
for taking minutes at the annual meeting. Thank you to the Godfrey’s and
Tremere’s for the farm tours.
If anyone is interested in helping out with the
open show at Old Home Week please contact Shelley. We need someone to line
up the animals and help out at the clerks table to organize trophies etc.
Just a reminder that membership fees are $10.00
and we currently have 15 members. In order to show at the Futurity,
memberships must be paid. The membership money goes towards the newsletter
and 4H sponsorships.

poster or Beef Consumers Guides for displays please give me a call.
